If your truck, trailer, bus or commercial vehicle is over 4.5 tonnes GVM, an inspection may be required to confirm it meets roadworthy and compliance standards before registration can be approved. This helps improve safety, reduce breakdown risks and keep your vehicle operating legally on NT roads.

When You May Need This Service
You may need a Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspection if you are:
- Registering a heavy vehicle in the NT for the first time
- Re-registering an unregistered truck or trailer
- Transferring registration from another state or territory
- Buying or selling a heavy commercial vehicle
- Unsure whether your vehicle currently meets roadworthy standards
- If the vehicle is older than 7yrs
Owners of registered heavy vehicles must have a current registration certificate at all times, unless exempt. You will not be able to renew your registration until you have a current certificate so book your inspection with Roper River Transport before the expiry date.
